On a Friday night at the Painted Burro in Davis Square, the volume is high. It’s not so much the music as the din of the crowd. Last year, upscale Mexican restaurants took over the city. When another opened in the former Gargoyles space, the question was: Do we really need more fancified tacos and tequila? In Somerville, yes, clearly.
