Follow the Yellow Brick Road. Or the Emerald Necklace. Emerald Lounge, in the new Revere Hotel (a very renovated Radisson), is the first Boston nightspot to claim inspiration from both the capital of Oz and the work of Frederick Law Olmsted. A metal tornado sculpture is a reminder of the twister that transported Dorothy. Women on staff wear ruby slippers, with higher heels than might be practical for a long march to see the Wizard.

As for the Emerald Necklace, well, there is a green onyx bar and plenty of green lighting: The lounge has a lighting system that features 16 million color combinations. Inside, everything is black and silver, with plenty of mirrors. Outside, there is a two-tier patio.

Emerald Lounge, which opened this month, features a short menu of “utensil-free small plates.” The finger food includes blackened fish tacos, duck spring rolls, truffle fries, oyster shooters, seafood towers, and cheese and meat platters. Lounging is the focus here, not eating, and it’s refreshing to see a menu that acknowledges that while offering an appealing mix of hors d’oeuvres.

With lounging often comes drinking. The beer list is disappointingly run-of-the-mill. There is more variety when it comes to cocktails. In addition to Manhattans and martinis, there are inventions such as the grapefruit cosmo, the Ten Thyme Smash (gin, lime, white cranberry juice, cucumbers, and thyme), and something called the Emerald Punch. Drink enough of them and maybe you’ll feel like you’re in Oz. Or on the Riverway. One or the other.
