Makes about 3 gallons
Photographer Berta Daniels, who is a gardener and do-it-by-instinct cook, makes this cooling, citrusy homemade drink with limes, Thai basil, and lavender flowers.
| Juice of 18 limes (save 2 pieces rind) | |
| 2 | gallons of water |
| 1 | cup sugar |
| ⅛ | cup fresh Thai basil, chopped |
| 8 | stems lavender flowers, chopped |
| 2 | trays ice (about 1 quart) |
| Extra fresh basil (for garnish) | |
| Extra fresh lavender (for garnish) |
1. In a large pitcher, combine the lime juice, lime rind, water, sugar, basil, lavender, and ice. Stir and pour into glasses.
2. Garnish with basil and lavender.
