Brazilian restaurant Fogo de Chão opens in Boston’s Back Bay

The Palm steakhouse closed its Copley Square location last December, with plans to reopen on the Greenway in 2013. Its meaty karma lingers, however. This month, a branch of the Brazilian chain Fogo de Chão opened in the space.

Fogo de Chão is a churrascaria, Brazil’s answer to the steakhouse, wherein many kinds of meat roasted on skewers are sliced and served to customers tableside. Diners are given a chip that is green on one side, red on the other. Put it green side up on the table and chefs begin to arrive, skewers in tow. Turn the chip to red for a break, then green again when the table wants more.
