Recipe for maple-walnut granola

Aram Boghosian for The Boston Globe/Globe Freelance

Makes about 5 cups

Many granolas are loaded with fat, and while they may contain good ingredients, they’re high in calories. This is a low-key version, made with oats, ground almonds, walnuts, and maple syrup. Sprinkle over yogurt.

3cups old-fashioned oats
1cup ground almonds
cups walnuts, chopped
½teaspoon salt
1cup pure maple syrup

1. Set the oven at 300 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl, combine the oats, almonds, walnuts, and salt. Drizzle with syrup and stir well. Spread out on the baking sheet.

3. Bake for 10 minutes. Stir well. Continue baking for 10 minutes more or until the mixture is crisp. Store in an airtight container. Janine Sciarappa
