Don’t stick your finger in the batter, use this

A little whimsy in the kitchen is always a good thing, as are utensils that not only do what they’re supposed to, but also make you smile. The Batter Finger ($9) is a narrow silicone spatula shaped like a long pointer finger, perfect for scraping small bowls and narrow jars, and good for frosting cupcakes and spreading jam and nut butter. The handle is easy to grip for small hands. It’s a good alternative to using your own fingers, especially when someone is watching. Available at Joie de Vivre, 1792 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, 617-864-8188, and Sur la Table locations, www.surlatable.com. LISA ZWIRN
