Xian

  • Chelmsford’s cult favorite Xian roadside shack will move to Boston, reports a poster on foodie site Chowhound. (The Globe wrote about owner Gene Wu’s exceptional hand-pulled noodles and flatbreads last summer.) Now a new crop of diners can enjoy the tingly chili-and-garlic soaked noodles, not to mention the boundless enthusiasm of Wu, who left the corporate world to pursue his passion for cooking. The new restaurant is headed for Downtown Crossing in the coming months.

El Centro Dos

  • A rep for El Centro, the popular South End restaurant, confirms some spicy news: A Brookline location, called El Centro Dos, plans a June 21 opening. Owner Allan Rodriguez, who grew up in Sonora, says that “the Boston area has a lot of ‘quote un-quote’ authentic Mexican restaurants, but they aren’t the type of restaurants you find in Mexico.” Fighting words! Almost all of the recipes, and the restaurant’s artwork, have been sourced from his many trips to Mexico. This location, unlike the South End branch, has a full bar. To that end, expect a rotating selection of sangrias, spicy margaritas, and micheladas. El Centro Dos is at 236 Washington St., Brookline.

Clover Food Lab

  • The team behind fast-healthy Clover Food Lab adds one more brick-and-mortar restaurant to its growing empire: Zagat has reported that it will open in Kendall Square later this summer. (Meanwhile, Clover opens in Burlington late this month.) The newest Clover will be at 10 Cambridge Center — also the entrance to Google. Should we expect a chickpea-inspired Google Doodle in the near future?

Strega

  • The folks behind Strega and Strega Waterfront say that owner Nick Varano plans to open a “European cafe-pizzeria” adjacent to Strega on Hanover Street. Says a statement from Varano: “Nick Varano, owner of The Varano Group, is planning to open a new European cafe-pizzeria concept on Hanover Street, adjacent to Strega North End. As yet unnamed, Varano plans to open late summer.” Busy times for Varano: Strega will soon open a location in Woburn, too, called Strega Prime.
