Chef Ana Sortun tells us that her newest restaurant, Somerville’s Sarma, should open at 249 Pearl St. in Winter Hill by mid-October. Sortun also runs Cambridge’s lovely special-occasion restaurant Oleana as well as Sofra bakery. Oleana’s Cassie Piuma will run Sarma’s kitchen, and Island Creek Oyster Bar veteran Vikram Hegde will handle the bar program.

Urban Daddy shares news that long-awaited Roka sushi parlor has made its debut at 801 Mass Ave. in the South End. On offer: tuna sashimi martinis; cocktails from a 40-foot, double-sided bar; black sake; and a private room where filet mignon is seared tableside on hot stones.

A young entrepreneur wants to open a feline-oriented cafe in Boston. That’s right, a cafe for cats. “I’m very serious about this and determined to have it be created by the end of 2013 in Boston, Massachusetts. I’ve had this idea for a while now ever since learning about them through the internet a couple of years ago. Cat cafes are a type of small restaurant originating in Japan where patrons can eat meals and have beverages in the company of felines,” the cat-lover writes on her Tumblr site, Cat Café Dream. The pet project is called, of course, Miaou Boston.
