From Lindt, a brownie mix for those times you can’t make your own

Cone Communications

If you need to whip up a last-minute treat and you’re short on time and ingredients, it would be handy to have a brownie mix in the cupboard. Most mixes taste like you used a mix. The chocolatier Lindt now offers Classic Chocolate and Coconut White Chocolate brownie mixes ($12). Each box includes two Lindt Excellence bars you have to melt. Add butter and eggs to the mix, which gives you the feeling you’re baking from scratch. Classic Chocolate turns out cakey brownies with an airy crumb; the flavor is pure chocolate. Coconut White Chocolate mix yields buttery, chewy, blonde squares with an appealing but subtle coconut flavor. Either could pass for homemade. Available at Lindt Chocolate stores or go to www.lindtusa.com.
