Dr. Rajni Aneja has been named executive vice president at Joslin Diabetes Center. The position is a new one. Aneja, who started last week, will work on several major initiatives at the hospital, including Joslin Everywhere, aimed at creating a web portal for doctors and patients to access Joslin research and educational tools, and Joslin Inside, an effort to provide other hospitals and health systems with data analysis and guidance on their population of patients with diabetes.
“Dr. Aneja will be interacting with all Joslin teams to develop and deliver new diabetes treatment and prevention programs, funded with new business models, so we can enable our Joslin Inside and Joslin Everywhere strategic concepts to be utilized by our partners and collaborators to benefit patients and those at risk of diabetes across the world,” John Brooks, Joslin chief executive, said in a press release.
Trained in family medicine, Aneja comes from WebMD Health Services, where she was chief medical officer. She previously worked for OptumHealth, part of the UnitedHealth Group, as national medical director for disease management and quality. She is active with the Care Continuum Alliance, a trade association focused on population health, and the American College of Physician Executives.
Aneja studied medicine at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., and earned a master’s in business administration with a focus on medical management from the University of Massachusetts.
