City Councilor Ayanna Pressley has fibroid surgery: What to know about the condition

Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley plans to skip a City Council meeting on Wednesday because she’s recuperating from surgery to remove benign uterine fibroids. The abdominal surgery took place last Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Pressley has been recuperating at home since Monday. About half of black women and a third of white women are plagued by heavy bleeding, bloating, and other fibroid symptoms; what to do for treatment.
