Dr. Richard Keller, the pediatric endocrinologist and former medical director of Phillips Academy in Andover, is scheduled to appear in court Friday at 10 a.m. for a hearing on whether he should be detained until trial.
Keller, 56, was arrested last week on charges of receiving child pornography. Authorities found at least 60 DVDS and more than 500 sexually explicit photographs during a search of his Andover home. Federal investigators found Keller’s name and addresses in the customer database of a foreign company that produced child pornography, along with records of $2,695 in purchases, according to an affidavit filed in federal court.
Keller worked for nearly three decades as a doctor at Camp Joslin in Charlton. He also was involved with Camp Mah-Kee-Nac in Lenox, was an instructor at Harvard Medical School, and worked part-time for Boston Children’s Hospital.
Keller had been scheduled to be in court Wednesday. He has retained attorney Max Stern of the firm Stern, Shapiro, Weissberg & Garin in Boston. Stern did not immediately return calls to his office Monday and Tuesday.
