Should food stamps pay for empty calories?

Adapted from the MD Mama blog on Boston.com.

We don’t have to buy healthy foods if we don’t want to. We can go to the store and fill our cart with soda and chips if we feel like it. But should the government have to pay for our bad choices?

Good luck, the ACLU would eat that up...

No the government should not pay for bad food choices. The government should not subsidize big agracultural. Farm subsidizes should be available to small farmers who grow fruits and vegetable. Right now all food is exempt from sales tax.  I think any food which has no food value--should be taxed--afterall it has no nutritional value.
