Lexington’s Amanda Palmer in The Economist

Here’s something we never expected to see: Amanda Palmer in The Economist. Even the high-minded news magazine felt compelled to note the Lexington-bred singer’s wildly successful Kickstarter campaign. (In case you missed it, Palmer, who’s married to sci-fi writer Neil Gaiman, used the crowd-funding website to raise a whopping $1.2 million to finance her new CD and tour.) “Readers of a delicate nature should be warned that Ms. Palmer’s Kickstarter page features some images of exuberant nudity,” cautions the conservative mag. The writer points out that most people contributed less than $125, but there were also 34 pledges of $5,000, and those folks will each get a private house concert. Wonder how many of them are Economist subscribers.
