Passion Pit, the popular electronic music act led by former Emerson College
student Michael Angelakos and his Berklee-trained friends, canceled its July shows because of Angelakos’s health issues. Angelakos posted this note on the band’s website on Monday: “On behalf of the band and myself, I would like to greatly apologize for the show cancellations. In order for me to ensure that there will be no further disruptions, I am going to take the time to work on improving my mental health. For now, I’d like to thank all of our fans for their understanding. I hope to see all of you very soon in a much different light. . . . With love, Michael.” The dates, which were to promote the band’s new album, “Gossamer,” included gigs in Tennessee, New York, North Carolina, and Virginia. Passion Pit played the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston last month. Tuesday’s announcement comes on the heels of some more positive news. During Comic-Con in San Diego over the weekend, it was revealed that Passion Pit will have a song on the soundtrack for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2.”
