Suzanne Vega, children’s musician Dan Zanes, and soul singer Irma Thomas were some of the big names on the lineup of the Globe and WGBH’s Boston Summer Arts Weekend. Officials who were out at Copley Square on Friday for the kickoff of the arts festivities included WGBH boss Jon Abbott, Boston’s first lady Angela Menino, Mayor Tom Menino, Globe publisher Chris Mayer and his wife, Donna, and Robert Matthews, vice chairman at Arts Weekend sponsor Citizens Bank.
