Officials: Apparently naked, intoxicated, and combative, Randy Travis threatened police

Randy Travis was charged with driving while intoxicated and threatening officers after the country singer crashed his car and was found naked and combative at the scene, officials said. It was the second Texas arrest this year for Travis, who was cited in February for public intoxication. A Pontiac Trans Am registered to Travis, 53, had driven off a road west of Tioga around midnight Tuesday, said Tom Vinger, spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety. The vehicle had struck several barricades in a construction zone, according to DPS. Vinger said Travis made threats against Texas Highway Patrol troopers and was not wearing clothes at the time of his arrest. (AP)

Hoskins has Parkinson’s

British actor Bob Hoskins says he is retiring after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. In a statement released Wednesday through his agent, Hoskins, 69, thanked his fans and said he’d had a ‘‘wonderful career.’’ The London actor starred in British classics including ‘‘The Long Good Friday’’ and ‘‘Mona Lisa’’ as well as ‘‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’’ (AP)

Fallon won’t host Oscars

Jimmy Fallon says he was asked to host next year’s Academy Awards but declined the gig. The talk-show host told Matt Lauer Wednesday that ‘‘it’s an honor to be asked by the academy, but it’s not my year.’’ Fallon, who hosted the 2010 Emmys, made the remarks during a ‘‘Today’’ show broadcast from London. Rivers protests at Costco

Police were called to a Costco store in Burbank, Calif., after comedian Joan Rivers handcuffed herself to a shopping cart to protest the store, which is not selling her latest book. The 79-year-old ‘‘Fashion Police’’ host was being filmed by a camera crew Tuesday as she complained that the store had refused to carry her book, ‘‘I Hate Everything . . . Starting With Me.’’ Police officers escorted Rivers from the store, and she and her crew left without incident. There were no citations. (AP)

Cavallari has a baby boy

Kristin Cavallari is a new mom. The former star of MTV reality shows ‘‘Laguna Beach’’ and ‘‘The Hills’’ has given birth to her first child, a boy named Camden Jack Cutler. The baby’s father is Cavallari’s fiance, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. The 25-year-old Cavallari wrote Wednesday on Twitter that she was ‘‘thrilled’’ to announce the baby’s birth. (AP)
