Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford confirmed during this weekend’s episiode of VH1’s “That Metal Show” that he and his local bandmates considered replacing their frontman, Steven Tyler, with Sammy Hagar when Tyler joined “American Idol” in 2010. Whitford said that the band would have changed its name if Hagar — or anyone else, for that matter — had taken the mike.
