It was as an usual sight: celebrity chef Todd English front row at Lincoln Center for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. Most front-row celebs tend to be young, willowy starlets, not chefs. But there he was at designer Naeem Khan’s show. Before the show began, English explained that he and the fashion designer are close friends and English is a fan of Khan’s home-cooked meals. “He makes one of his mother’s recipes that has 26 spices,” English said. “It’s absolutely incredible.” English had another reason to be rubbing shoulders with the fashionable set at Lincoln Center. His restaurant group provides the food for the luxe American Express Skybox, which keeps a select group of fashion folks plied with bubbly and treats. “I’m kind of surprised that the grilled cheese is so popular here,” English said. “I didn’t think people ate anything at Fashion Week.”
