James Taylor flattered by Jimmy Fallon skit

  • Reprints

We enjoyed Jimmy Fallon’s recent parody of James Taylor, and so, it seems, did the singer himself. In case you missed it, Fallon impersonated JT singing “Fire and Rain” at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. (Taylor, who’s a big Obama supporter, did perform at the DNC.) But in Fallon’s bit, the song was called “Romney and Bain.” (Lyrics included “I’ve seen Clinton speeches I thought would never end” and “Won’t you look down upon me, Eastwood?”) What did Taylor think? “Hats off to Jimmy,” he said in an e-mail. “He looks better as James Taylor than I do.” The singer’s twin 11-year-old boys, Henry and Rufus , also have memorized the new lyrics and are singing them around their Berkshires abode.
