Arnold Schwarzenegger calls affair ‘stupidest thing’

Apparently it wasn’t enough that Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a child with his former housekeeper, now he’s written a book in which he recounts the affair with Mildred Baena. We’re guessing Maria Shriver is thrilled. In a “60 Minutes” interview to be broadcast Sunday, Schwarzenegger says he isn’t proud of the affair. When Lesley Stahl reminds the former bodybuilder that Shriver gave up her TV career for him, Schwarzenegger replies, “I think it was the stupidest thing I’ve done in the whole relationship. It was terrible. I inflicted tremendous pain on Maria and unbelievable pain on the kids.” Schwarzenegger, the former governor of California, has written an autobiography titled “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life.” He says his ex-wife has not read the book. “She knows that it’s about my whole life and that I would not write a book and kind of leave out that part and make people feel like, ‘Well, wait a minute. Are we just getting a book about his success stories and not . . . his failures?’ . . . I wanted to write a book about me.”
