Seth MacFarlane tapped to host Academy Awards

Seth MacFarlane, the Rhode Island School of Design grad best known as the creator of “Family Guy,” will host the Academy Awards telecast on ABC on Feb. 24, producers of the Oscars announced Monday. The Connecticut native who directed the made-in-Massachusetts hit “Ted” will apparently contribute to the show as a producer as well, telling The New York Times: “As much as I can be involved in that capacity, I would very much like to.” Last year, Eddie Murphy was set to host but withdrew and was replaced by Billy Crystal.
