Elinor Lipman to talk politics — in 140 characters or less

Novelist Elinor Lipman, who has been tweeting a political poem every day for more than a year and will continue to do so until Election Day, will read some of her funny tweet verses Wednesday at Brookline Booksmith. Lipman will be joined by a slew of fellow scribes, including Wally Lamb, Anita Shreve, Stephen McCauley, William Martin, Chris Castellani, Mameve Medwed, Suzanne Strempeck Shea, Alexandra Marshall, Michael Lowenthal, and Joan Wickersham. . . . Newton City Hall will be in the spotlight next week when ABC begins filming scenes for “The Makeover” there. The TV movie, which stars Julia Stiles, has been shooting around Boston in recent weeks. Crews are expected to begin setting up in Newton Monday and film throughout the day on Tuesday inside the War Memorial, at the Inspectional Services counter, and inside the main rotunda.
