Joey, one of the stars of “War Horse” — which runs from Wednesday to Oct. 21 at the Opera House — visited the Animal Rescue League in Dedham on Tuesday morning. The puppet was there to see Celeste, a real-life mini horse who was involved in an animal cruelty case earlier this year and was helped by the Dedham branch. Also on site were Celeste’s new owner, Kathy Mercuril; Joey’s owner in the show, Andrew Veenstra; and Danny Yoerges, the puppeteer who operates Joey’s head. Celeste looks a bit apathetic in this photo, but we hear it was a great play date.
