They were Boston Children’s Hospital president Sandra Fenwick, Next Street president Ronald Walker II, and Massachusetts Life Sciences Center CEO Susan Windham-Bannister. . . . Davio’s owner Steve DiFillippo hosted a fund-raiser at his Park Square restaurant for cancer research as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Guests included cancer survivor Carol Bolton Kappel, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Simona Arcidiaco, Celtics co-owner Bob Epstein and wife Esta, and WCVB-TV’s Kimberly Bookman. . . . Kayla Harrison, winner of the Olympic gold medal in judo, brought smiles to patients’ faces when she paid a visit to the Franciscan Hospital for Children’s Medical Day Care. . . . One-of-a-kind composer, pianist, and improviser Ran Blake, 77, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New England Conservatory Oct. 27. The former MacArthur Fellow has been teaching at NEC for nearly four decades, and is the founder of the school’s highly-regarded Contemporary Improvisation Department.
