Patriots owner Robert Kraft busy collecting awards

Patriots owner Robert Kraft was back in his box Sunday after a busy couple of days. Last week, the Pats poobah (and girlfriend Ricki Lander) was in New York, where Sir Elton John gave him an award for his support of the singer’s AIDS Foundation. Then it was back here for the annual STEM — Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics — Summit at Gillette, before a return trip to the Big Apple, where Kraft was inducted into Columbia University’s Hall of Fame (and given a shout-out during halftime of Saturday’s Columbia-Dartmouth football game). Before he wore blue suits with pocket squares, Kraft played football. He was on Columbia’s freshman football squad in 1959 and the varsity lightweight team in 1960, before an injury ended his playing career. At Sunday’s Pats-Jets game, he was sitting with Donald Trump, among others, including Drew Faust, president of Harvard; Nitin Nohria, dean of Harvard Business School; Jimmy Lee, vice chairman of JP Morgan Chase; Jose Almeida, chairman and CEO of Covidien; Terry Lundgren, CEO of Macy’s; and George Schweitzer, president of CBS Marketing Group.
