Boston Book Fest excites most, frustrates a few

By all accounts, this weekend’s Boston Book Festival was a big success. Large crowds turned out to hear from literary types like Dennis Lehane, Buzz Bissinger, Jennifer Haigh, Nick Flynn, Lizz Winstead, Alexandra Styron, Alexander McCall Smith, Claire Messud, Tom Perrotta, and MacArthur fellow Junot Diaz. But we did hear a little grumbling about Adam Gopnik’s last-minute cancellation and keynote speaker Richard Ford’s decision to ditch a dinner with WBUR donors.
