“The Avengers” star Jeremy Renner presented Ben Affleck, his director on “The Town,” with the career achievement award at the Casting Society of America’s 2012 Artois Awards at the Beverly Hilton on Monday night. Affleck revealed during the night that he was supposed to direct the pilot of Showtime’s hit “Homeland,” but he turned the project down to spend time with his family. Ben, whose “Argo” finally hit No. 1 at the box office this past weekend, is quoted in The Hollywood Reporter as saying, “I was sure nothing would happen with the show. Now I hate the [expletive] show. I’ve never seen it. I’m going to attach myself to 14 pilots this year.” Local presenters at the ceremony included Massachusetts funny guy Nat Faxon of “Ben and Kate.”
