Steven Tyler and Erin Brady split?

It's always something with Aerosmith. Just as the Boston band is about to release a new CD – their first of all-original music in over a decade – there are reports that Steven Tyler and fiancée Erin Brady have broken up.

The New York Post reported Wednesday that Tyler and Brady have split, and the cause may be the flamboyant frontman's insistence on staying sober. The 64-year-old singer, who's long battled drug and alcohol problems, has been in rehab eight times, including once with Brady, who's 38.

The band's publicist vehemently denies the Post report, sending us this statement: "Just as any couple goes through trials and tribulations in a relationship, Steven and Erin are asking for their privacy at this time. They are engaged to be married and each is committed to their sobriety. Any claim to the contrary is absolutely false and misleading."

Monday, Aerosmith is scheduled to be in Boston to play a noontime show at an undisclosed location – a Rolling Stones-worthy PR stunt intended to hype the band's new CD, "Music From Another Dimension!," which comes out Tuesday. (The performance also precedes the next leg of the band's "Global Warming Tour," which heated up TD Garden in July.)

Tyler and Brady (inset above), a former Live Nation tour accountant, have been together for several years and got engaged, somewhat unexpectedly, last winter during a trip to Hawaii. (TMZ reported at the time that Tyler's kids — Liv, Mia, Chelsea, and Taj — were not pleased.) Brady made headlines a few years ago when she and a female Aerosmith fan got into a brawl at the Pangaea nightclub in Hollywood, Fla.

Tyler has been married twice before — to David Johansen's ex-wife Cyrinda Foxe in 1978 and, 10 years later, to Teresa Barrick . In his recent memoir, "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?" Tyler described Brady as a "tough chick" and also revealed that the two were in rehab together at California's Las Encinas Hospital in 2007.
