Billy Corgan might want to brush up on his college football trivia before playing in Boston again. During the Smashing Pumpkins’ show at Boston University’s Agganis Arena the other night, the band’s bald-headed frontman gave a shout-out to Heisman winner Doug Flutie. The comment elicited boos, which seemed to confuse Corgan. Flutie, of course, went to BC, not BU. . . . Former Talking Heads keyboardist Jerry Harrison was spied in Gloucester, where he dined at the Franklin Café with Cars drummer David Robinson. The two have been pals since they played together in the Modern Lovers. . . . We’re told Hurricane Sandy claimed a weeping willow on Carly Simon’s Tisbury property, and the singer’s taking the loss hard because the tree was planted during her marriage to James Taylor. . . . The cast and crew of the Larry David movie “Clear History,” including Eva Mendes and Kate Hudson, were shooting Thursday at Moore & Parker in Woburn. . . . Bruins forward Shawn Thornton was spotted getting takeout at Red Lantern, and sporting quite the ’stache as part of Movember, a monthlong initiative that raises awareness of prostate cancer.
