For new Sox skipper, helping out was in the cards

Red Sox manager John Farrell and a pack of about 40 people from the front office traveled to New Jersey on Tuesday to help clean up Union Beach, not far from where Farrell grew up in Monmouth County. During the Hurricane Sandy cleanup effort, Farrell happened to find a baseball card collection that included his own California Angels card from 1993. The day was part of the Sox’s “100 Acts of Kindness” initiative.
