Forbes put out its “30 Under 30” feature this week, explained as its hot list of “young disruptors, innovators and entrepreneurs . . . impatient to change the world.” Not surprisingly, there are a number Boston-area faces who made the cut. Local names among the top 30 young people in fields such as energy, finance, and music include Jefferson Pestronk, who’s in Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education; Christopher Coombs, chef at Boston restaurant Deuxave; and Leslie Dewan, an MIT PhD candidate who, with her colleague Mark Massie, is developing a new design for nuclear reactors. Forbes explains, “the Waste Annihilating Molten Salt Reactor (WAMSR) will utilize liquid fuel consisting mainly of the ‘spent’ fuel rods from the nation’s fleet of Light Water Reactors, which Dewan says still contain enough energy to power the entire U.S. for 70 years.” Sounds list-worthy to us. Dewan was one of the lucky 30 Under 30 personalities who were brought in by Forbes and dressed in high fashion for the magazine feature. She told us, via e-mail: “I felt like a movie star the entire day. The dress (so gorgeous!) is Monique Lhuillier, and they also put me in these beautiful Kimberly McDonald earrings.” Other 20-somethings who were dressed for the shoot included rapper Wiz Khalifa and Kate McKinnon of “Saturday Night Live.”
