Pop star Rihanna has given $1.75 million to a hospital in her Caribbean homeland of Barbados in memory of her late grandmother. Rihanna (inset) says the donation to buy three pieces of medical equipment was her way ‘‘giving back to Barbados.’’ She made the comments during a Saturday ceremony with relatives at the island’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The hospital’s radiotherapy unit has been renamed the Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine after Rihanna’s grandmother, who died in June. Rihanna recently released ‘‘Unapologetic,’’ her seventh album in seven years.

Stones guitarist marries

Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has married his fiancee, Sally Humphreys, in a private ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel, according to newspapers in England. The Sun and the Daily Mirror carried photos of the 65-year-old rocker with a pale boutonniere and a dark blue suit, and his 34-year-old bride in a traditional white gown and a clutch of white flowers. The Sun quoted Wood as saying ‘‘I’m feeling great’’ as he and his bride kissed and posed for pictures Friday outside the hotel in London’s Mayfair district. The newspapers said the guests included singer Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster, as well as ex-Beatle Paul McCartney and his wife, Nancy Shevell. This is the third marriage for Wood, who just played with the Stones in the United States as part of the 50 and Counting tour.

Royals make holiday plans

Royal officials say that Prince William will spend Christmas with his pregnant wife, Kate, and his in-laws in the southern England village of Bucklebury. That means a family Christmas for the Duchess of Cambridge, who was recently hospitalized after suffering from severe morning sickness. British royals traditionally spend the holidays at Sandringham, a vast estate in eastern England, and a spokesman for William said that royal couple would pay a visit at some point over the festive season. He noted that William’s absence from Sandringham had been approved by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her husband, Prince Philip. He spoke on condition of anonymity because palace rules forbid his identification in the press.

Kutcher, Moore divorcing

Ashton Kutcher has filed court papers to end his seven-year marriage to actress Demi Moore. The actor’s divorce petition cites irreconcilable differences and does not list a date that the couple separated. Moore announced last year that she was ending her marriage to the actor 15 years her junior, but she never filed a petition. Kutcher’s filing does not indicate that the couple has a prenuptial agreement. The filing states Kutcher signed the document Friday, hours before it was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. Kutcher and Moore married in September 2005 and until recently kept their relationship very public. Kutcher currently stars on CBS’s ‘‘Two and a Half Men.’’
