Amanda Palmer to speak at TED conference

Lexington’s own Amanda Palmer can add public speaking to her already impressive resume. The former Dresden Doll has been invited to talk at this year’s TED conference, which takes place next month in California. And she’s in good company. Palmer, who attracted a lot of media attention when she managed to fund her latest CD, “Theater Is Evil,” using only donations made via Kickstarter, will share the stage with U2’s Bono and Peter Gabriel. (There are 70 speakers at this year’s conference, titled “The Young. The Wise. The Undiscovered.”) At the moment, Palmer, who’s married to British writer Neil Gaiman, is living in Cambridge. She canceled her tour to be with a longtime friend who is being treated for leukemia.
