Patriots honor Newtown Police before game

Never mind Senator and soon-to-be Secretary of State John Kerry, who watched Sunday’s Pats game from the owner’s box, the real VIPs on the Gillette Stadium sod before the game were 14 members of the Newtown, Conn., Police Department, including all of the first responders to Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14. They were introduced to the crowd before the game — posing for pics with Pats owners Robert and Jonathan Kraft — and stayed on the field for the national anthem.

That was a very thoughtful gesture. Thanks, Patriots.
