The cooking contest was a fund-raiser for # Scoops Café. . . . Sara Quin of Tegan and Sara was in good voice at the Brighton Music Hall thanks in part to the front-desk folks at the Revere Hotel, who sent a pot of hot tea to the Canadian singer’s room. The sold-out show, the 200th in the Fenway Recordings Sessions series, was streamed live on MTV.com as part of its “Artists to Watch” series. . . . New Center for Arts & Culture hosted a Jewish cooking event Sunday and Simon Majumdar, a judge on Food Network’s “Iron Chef,” made the scene, as did La Morra’s Josh Ziskin, Erwin Ramos of Ole, Deborah Hansen of Taberna de Haro, and Area Four’s Katie Kimble. . . . City Council president Steve Murphy and his wife, Bridget, had dinner at Strega Waterfront with WGBH’s Emily Rooney and former Reebok brass Paul Foster.
