Early numbers are in for ‘Southie Rules’

The Nielsen ratings for “Southie Rules” are in. TV by the Numbers, a website that follows television trends, reports that A&E’s new, so-called reality show about South Boston that premiered Tuesday was watched by 1.28 million people at 10 p.m., and by .82 million during a second episode that aired at 10:30. For context, “Storage Wars: Texas,” the 9:30 p.m. lead-in for “Southie,” was watched by 2.75 million. The 10 p.m. episode of “Hardcore Pawn” on TruTV was watched by 1.54 million. No word on A&E’s expectations for “Southie Rules.” We have to wonder whether the numbers mean that people who viewed episode one didn’t stick around for No. 2.
