Who better to help boost your Kickstarter campaign than Amanda Palmer, the de facto queen of the crowdsourcing website? The Brattle Theatre, the single-screen cinema in Harvard Square, has enlisted Palmer’s help in its effort to raise $140,000 to pay for a state-of-the-art digital projection system and HVAC upgrade. (To date, the Brattle has raised nearly half of its goal.) The theater’s creative director, Ned Hinkle, has announced that in exchange for a donation of $1,000, contributors can spend a night at the movies with Palmer and her husband, writer Neil Gaiman, who’ll be screening some of their favorite films at the Brattle on May 18 and 19. Palmer is a big fan of Kickstarter, having used it to raise $1.2 million to support her latest album and tour.
