Chestnut Hill actor David Walton, who just ended a stint on “New Girl” and appeared in the Boston-based Hallmark Hall of Fame movie “The Makeover,” will star opposite “Good Will Hunting” actress Minnie Driver in a pilot based on Nick Hornby’s novel “About a Boy.” Driver will play the role of a hippie mother; Toni Collette played the part in the film version of the book. Last we chatted with Walton (above) in Los Angeles, he was set to star in a sitcom about a firefighter that would have been helmed by Tad Quill, who was responsible for Walton’s now-canceled 2012 sitcom “Bent.” The “About a Boy” pilot is being produced by Jason Katims, who’s best known for “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood.”
