Rising to the occasion in Cambridge

Local designer Cibeline Sariano and her daughter Josephine Dillon kept busy on Valentine’s Day by supporting Eve Ensler’s One Billion Rising campaign, which aims to raise awareness about violence against women all over the world. Sariano, who used to have a retail shop on Charles Street and now makes custom designs, donated 10 percent of all sales from trunk shows during the day to the One Billion Rising cause. Her partner in the local One Billion Rising event, Nia instructor Kira Hower, donated 100 percent of her proceeds from the day’s classes to the platform. (Nia is a cross between martial arts and dance.) Sariano and Hower hosted the day of Nia classes and trunk shows in a studio on Lake View Avenue in Cambridge.
