Paul McCartney to play at Fenway again

The rumors are true. Paul McCartney will indeed be playing again at Fenway Park this summer. We reported Monday that the buzz around the ballpark was that the 70-year-old ex-Beatle might make a stop at friendly Fenway as part of his just-announced “Out There!” tour. Well, he will. We’re told Macca, who played two shows at the park in 2009, will be setting up in center field Tuesday, July 9, while the home team is in Seattle. Live Nation declined to comment, so we can’t tell you when tickets might go on sale. (Our friends at Live Nation did want to talk about the Eagles, who are at the Comcast Center July 19; John Mayer, who will be at the Comcast Center on Aug. 17; and Toby Keith, who plays at the Comcast Center Sept. 21.) At Fenway, meanwhile, it’s shaping up to be a busy summer. In addition to McCartney, country stars Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert are playing July 12 and 13, and Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake perform there Aug. 10 and 11. Sir Paul announced on his website last week that he’ll be touring this summer, with the first show slated for mid June at the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee.
