Chris Cooper exits ‘Klondike’

Oscar winner Chris Cooper won’t be starring in the Discovery Channel’s miniseries “Klondike” after all. says Cooper, who lives in Kingston with his wife, Marianne Leone Cooper, has left the cast due to “a personal matter that has unexpectedly arisen.” Cooper was the first actor cast in the series based on Charlotte Gray’s novel “Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike,” about six strangers and their quest for riches in a small town in the remote region of Canada. “I have nothing but respect and admiration for Discovery, Ridley Scott, and the very talented cast and crew for bringing this compelling project called Klondike to life and for inviting me to be a part of it,” the actor said in a statement. “It is with regret that I am unable to continue, but I look forward to another opportunity to hopefully work with Discovery in the future.”
