Jackie Bradley Jr. doesn’t tweet for home teams?

Globe Staff

No one was more excited to seeJackie Bradley Jr. ’s name in the Opening Day lineup than us. At 22, he’s the youngest player to start the season in left field for the Red Sox since Carl Yastrzemski, and we all know how that turned out. But does Bradley Jr. (inset) love Boston as much as Boston loves him? We checked Twitter to find out. Bradley Jr. is currently following 213 people, including a lot of folks who aren’t exactly fan favorites around here. For example, JBJ follows LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Dwight Howard, but not Celts captain Paul Pierce or the C’s All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo. What’s that about? And among football players, the Red Sox rookie sensation is following Michael Vick and Tim Tebow, but not Vince Wilfork or any other member of the Patriots. What gives? Bradley Jr. follows LA Dodgers owner Magic Johnson, but not Sox owner John Henry? Oh, the indignity. He follows Chick-fil-A, but not Friendly’s or Dunkin’ Donuts. He keeps tabs on comedian Katt Williams, but not Boston’s Denis Leary, Conan O’Brien, or Stephen Wright. Bradley Jr. follows actor Omar Epps but not Oscar winner Ben Affleck. Oh well. If it’s any consolation Bradley does follow several of his Sox teammates, including Jon Lester, Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia, and Mike Napoli. And, really, if he hits for average and fields his position, he can follow whoever he wants.
