Martha’s Vineyard Film Society gets big gift

Arts philanthropist Marilyn Meyerhoff, whose last name is on the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall (home of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra), has made a big donation to the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society. The organization, which runs the Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival and has a new film center in Vineyard Haven, didn’t specify the amount of the donation, but we’re hearing that it’s a quarter of a million dollars paid over many years. The theater inside of the film center will be named for Marilyn. Richard Paradise, executive director of the Film Society, did tell us that there will be a gala for donors in August.
