Local actors are buzzing about auditions for “The Judge,” a new Robert Downey Jr. movie that’s expected to be filmed in Boston this summer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is about a lawyer (Downey Jr.) who returns home to find out that his father (Robert Duvall ) is a murder suspect. Also on the cast list is “Gossip Girl” actress Leighton Meester , who spent part of 2011 in Massachusetts filming the not-so-well-received Adam Sandler comedy “That’s My Boy.” The arrival of “The Judge” means that we’ll have plenty of A-listers in town at the same time. By our count, we’ll have two Avengers (Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo , a.k.a. The Hulk, who should be in Rhode Island to film “Infinitely Polar Bear”), one crew member of the USS Enterprise (Zoe Saldana , a.k.a. Uhura in “Star Trek,” who stars opposite Ruffalo), and one “Hunger Games” champion (Jennifer Lawrence , who stars with Bradley Cooper in David O. Russell ’s movie about the late-’70s Abscam scandal, which shot in Woburn on Tuesday). Speaking of “Infinitely Polar Bear” — a drama about a man managing his bipolar disorder while raising his children — the Rhode Island Film & TV Office announced on Tuesday that principal photography on the project has started. “Polar Bear,” like Russell’s movie, takes place in the ’70s. Rhode Island says the shoot will last for six weeks. And as for that Russell movie, Robert De Niro recently told Empire magazine how he’ll join the cast. “My character is a guy who comes in and represents the whole gambling thing, trying to help them work it out. Unwittingly, he’s also being used. He’s legitimate, in that he can do casinos, but he’s also connected to the underworld.” Sounds like a good part for De Niro.
