And now for a little good news: Micah Schure, a 20-year-old communications major at Emerson College, is one of Glamour magazine’s “2013 Top 10 College Women.” Schure told us she picked up a guitar at 15, not long after she lost her home to a fire, and she’s never looked back. Music was a kind of therapy to “make myself whole again.” It’s working. The daughter of a music-publicist mom and guitar-playing dad already has a famous fan: Beyoncé . The superstar singer watched Schure’s tune, “Rebel,” on YouTube and was impressed. “You have a beautiful voice, and you are killing the guitar,” Beyoncé told her. “You’re super talented.” Schure’s goals for the future? “I definitely would like to play sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden, but fame isn’t pretty, I don’t want that,” she says. “I’d like to become successful and then I’d like to be able to step back and have a normal life.” Schure isn’t the only Glamour gal in our midst. Grace Young, an ocean engineering major at MIT, is also on the list.
