Ben Affleck will present a hometown award at this year’s ESPYs. According to the website TV by the Numbers, Affleck will present the Jimmy V Perseverance Award (named for the North Carolina State basketball coach Jim Valvano, who died of cancer in 1993) to Dick and Rick Hoyt (right). This was the 31st year that Dick Hoyt has pushed his disabled son Rick Hoyt in the Boston Marathon. Rick has cerebral palsy. The Hoyts have said that since they didn’t get to finish this year’s marathon because of the bombing, they plan to run it again in 2014. A week before this year's race, the Hoyts, from Holland, Mass., were honored with a life-size bronze statue just feet from the start of the marathon in Hopkinton. The ESPYs, which celebrate the year in sports, will be hosted by Affleck’s costar in “The Town,” Jon Hamm, on July 17.
