Sox owner skips Fenway record

The Red Sox sellout streak may be over, but Paul McCartney had no trouble drawing a crowd on Yawkey Way. Live Nation announced Wednesday that 36,064 people attended the former Beatle’s show at the ballpark this week, making it the largest crowd ever to see a concert at Fenway. We ran into Sox CEO Larry Lucchino and wife Stacey, and chairman Tom Werner, but not Sox owner John Henry, who was en route with wife Linda Pizzuti Henry to Allen & Co.’s annual media and tech conference in Sun Valley,Idaho. (Does this bolster those reports about Henry being a bidder for the Globe?) Also watching Sir Paul perform were former Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield, singer Chris Isaak, who’s in town to play at the Wilbur Theatre Thursday, “Beautiful Girls” screenwriter Scott Rosenberg, and restaurateurs Ed Kane and Steve DeFillippo.
