Cape theaters to dim lights in honor of Julie Harris

The Cape & Islands Theater Coalition will pay tribute Friday to actress Julie Harris, who died over the weekend at her Chatham home at the age of 87. The group’s 24 theaters will dim their lights at the start of Friday’s shows to honor Harris, the celebrated actress who won five Tony Awards, three Emmys, a Grammy, and an Oscar nomination during her remarkable career. Harris was a front-row fixture at shows across the Cape, and she acted, directed, and served on the boards of many local theaters, including Monomoy Theatre in Chatham, WHAT in Wellfleet, HJT in Harwich, Cape Rep in Brewster, and Eventide Arts in Dennis.
