Katie Couric is getting married to her financier boyfriend, John Molner. Couric’s spokesman Matthew Hiltzik confirmed the engagement Tuesday morning following a report by People magazine. Molner gave 56-year-old Couric, the former host of ‘‘Today,’’ a diamond ring over the weekend in East Hampton, N.Y. Molner, 50, is a partner at investment firm Brown Brothers Harriman, who oversees mergers and acquisitions advisory work for the firm’s corporate clients.
Patrick Kennedy and wife expecting
Former Rhode Island Congressman Patrick Kennedy and his wife, Amy, are expecting their second child together, he said on Tuesday. Her due date is on Thanksgiving, and they’re expecting a girl. ‘‘I’m very, very excited. We all are,’’ he told The Associated Press.
‘The Armstrong Lie’ opens in Venice
Director Alex Gibney started filming Lance Armstrong before the cyclist acknowledged doping, and looking back now at the 2009 footage he realizes ‘‘there was a lot of material there where he was just lying to me straight out.’’ Gibney was in Venice on Tuesday for the premiere of his film ‘‘The Armstrong Lie,’’ in which he salvaged the 2009 footage meant for a comeback movie and added interviews with Armstrong after the stunning disclosure.
